This policy explains what Smart Haul LLC (“Smart Haul”, “we”) collects when you use smarthaul.net or the Smart Haul Driver app, why we collect it, and what we do with it.
What we collect
- Information you give us. When you submit a form we collect your name, phone number, email address, details about your fleet, and anything else you choose to write in the message field.
- Technical information. Our servers record standard request information such as IP address, browser type and the page requested, for security and troubleshooting.
Why we use it
- To contact you about the dispatch and back-office services you asked about.
- To provide those services if you become a customer.
- To keep records required for our own accounting and compliance.
Text messages
If you tick the SMS consent box, you agree to receive text messages from Smart Haul at the number you provided. Reply STOP at any time to opt out, or HELP for assistance. Message and data rates may apply and message frequency varies. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of purchasing any service. We do not sell or share mobile numbers or SMS consent with third parties for their own marketing.
Smart Haul Driver app and location
Drivers of the carriers we dispatch can use the Smart Haul Driver app (iPhone, Android and web). This section covers what the app collects.
- Account. You sign in with your mobile phone number and a one-time code sent by text message. We use your number to identify you as the driver on your carrier’s loads.
- Loads, photos and messages. Load status changes you make, proof-of-delivery photos you take and messages you send to dispatch are stored with the load.
- Location when you choose to share it. Tapping Send Pin sends your current location to your dispatcher. While the app is open and you have not switched location sharing off, it sends your position to dispatch about every 30 minutes.
- Location while you are on a load (iPhone and Android app). If you turn on “Share my location while on a load” and allow location “all the time”, the app uses your location in the background — including when the app is closed — only while you have a load in transit or due for pickup within a day. It is used to (1) record when you arrive at and leave each pickup and delivery, so your waiting (detention) time is on the load, and (2) show your truck’s position to your dispatcher about every 30 minutes. It stops by itself when you have no load, when you switch it off in the app, or when you log out. While it runs, your phone shows that location is in use.
Location and arrival times are available only to your Smart Haul dispatch team and your carrier, and are kept with the load records for the period described under “How long we keep it”. We do not sell location data, use it for advertising, or share it with third parties for their own purposes. To stop sharing, switch location sharing off in the app, change the app’s location permission in your phone’s settings, or log out. Pickup and delivery addresses are converted to map coordinates using the U.S. Census Bureau and OpenStreetMap address services; only the facility address is sent to them, never your location.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us operate — for example email delivery, telephony and hosting — and only so far as they need it to perform that work, and where the law requires disclosure.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not become customers are kept while they may still be relevant to a future conversation, and deleted on request. Customer records are kept for as long as we provide services and afterwards for the period our accounting and compliance obligations require.
Your choices
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email [email protected] and we will respond within a reasonable period.
Security
Information submitted through this site is transmitted over an encrypted connection and stored on access-controlled systems. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures appropriate to the information involved.
Children
This site is intended for business use and is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page.
